Code of Conduct For Yoga Teachers
We recommend all teachers follow to the Yoga Alliance Policy on Sexual Misconduct (excerpts below are helpful guidelines)
Assisting /Touch Code of Conduct
Background: Understand power dynamics.Even when no malicious intent is present, energy can shift easily from healthy classroom relationships to an unhealthy power imbalance. If you’re a teacher, hold yourself accountable to the inherent power dynamic at play in the yoga teacher–student relationship. At minimum, you may be viewed by your students as a more advanced practitioner and an experienced guide. At maximum, you may be viewed as a master, guru, or enlightened being. Either way, do not abuse the power that is enmeshed in the relationship. Teaching yoga comes with great responsibility to individual students and the community you serve; maintain an appropriate boundary, and let the yoga practices themselves become the teacher for all students. (Yoga Alliance)
Ask permission before all hands-on assists:
Suggested approach is to mention at the start of class while your students are in child’s pose (so it is a private moment) that you will be offering hands on assists and if someone is not into getting them, they can raise their hand to let you know. Also let them know that as the class progresses - if they change their mind at any point- they are also welcome to let you know!
Every student deserves to be empowered within their own practice. Always ask permission before touching a student. Using clear communication, make each assist an empowering co-creation, inviting students to choose or decline your help, to change their mind, and to alter their answer from moment to moment. All types of hands-on assists require consent, including nurturing presses, manipulative adjustments, and press-point assists. To safely support all students in each class, strengthen your skillfulness with non-touch assists: Use precise verbal cues and invitational mirroring.
Teacher Student Relationship
Yoga teachers may not invite, respond to or allow any sexual or romantic interactions with their students or clients during the period of the professional relationship.

We pay monthly on the 2nd of each month (or if it falls on weekend /holiday - the next business day) via direct deposit. As a contractor you must submit your payroll to me on the 1st of each month. Tip: You can track your classes in mbo. mbo does not completely update its reports until the 1st of the month so if you taught a class towards the end of the month and mbo does not report it - you may need to wait until the 1st of the month to see your full schedule of classes taught. Your invoice can be of your own creation or you can use the mbo generate report (below).
Submit via email to debra@flowyogacenter.com, subject line “your name” + “invoice”.

mat set up:
14th Street - 7 rows - spaced this way from classroom door to the window: 8, 8, 8, 8, 6, 6, 6
P Street - Rasa - 5 rows of 7- and we suggest all facing in same direction. If you have folks facing in the center…make sure there is a nice amount of space in the face to face row to give folks room to forward fold. If you have folks face in one direction, make sure your mat is in front of the first row so everyone can see you (and the front row does not have to turn their backs to see you.
**Please keep your class capacity in mind and help students make space if needed so others aren't turned away :). We allow students in the room up to 10 minutes late so always arrange mats as if the class is going to be filled.
Before beginning your class, check in with front desk with your class count and to see if we are expecting any latecomers to make space for.
Always end on time. This honors our managers/staff schedules, fellow teachers start times and students expectations.
